CODING & REIMBURSEMENT considerations for UNITE® Biomatrix
To help healthcare providers consider the range of coding possibilities for surgical procedures that might include Unite® Biomatrix, the following information is shared for educational and strategic planning purposes only. Indication for Use: Unite® Biomatrix is an animal-derived extracellular matrix (xenograft) intended for the management of moderately to severely exudating wounds, including partial and full thickness wounds; draining wounds; pressure sores/ulcers; venous ulcers; chronic vascular ulcers; diabetic ulcers; trauma wounds (e.g. abrasions, lacerations, partial thickness [second-degree] burns, skin tears); surgical wounds (e.g. donor sites/grafts, post-laser surgery, post-Mohs surgery, podiatric wounds, dehisced surgical incisions). Effective January 1, 2012, the HCPCS Level II standard, national code set will include Q4129 for Unite® Biomatrix, per square centimeter.
