The Unite® Biomatrix collagen wound dressing was developed to provide an advanced biologic solution for chronic wounds. Elevated levels of proteases in chronic wounds have made traditional collagen dressings susceptible to rapid enzymatic breakdown, often requiring multiple reapplications. A durable, crosslinked, sterile*, native collagen structure allows the Unite® Biomatrix to be easily applied to the debrided wound bed and maintain integrity as the wound heals. Chronic wounds such as diabetic foot ulcers, venous ulcers, pressure ulcers, and vasculitic ulcers continue to be worldwide concerns, and the Unite® Biomatrix is helping to provide a new treatment alternative.

» non-reconstituted Type I collagenUnlike reconstituted collagen products, the Unite® Biomatrix is derived from native equine pericardium. This is a highly organized Type I collagen matrix with a long history of use in implantable devices. The inherently superior physical properties enable this pliable (<1mm) thick collagen scaffold to be securely and reliably sutured to the wound bed.
The Unite® Biomatrix is available pre-fenestrated or non-fenestrated. The pre-fenestrated option allows for convenient management of wound exudates. Non-fenestrated Unite® may be placed in a surgical mesher to expand coverage area.
Incomplete removal of donor cells and remnants of endogenous cellular debris has the potential to elicit an acute inflammatory and/or immune response from the host and the possibility of rejection. The presence of donor cells has been implicated in host inflammatory reactions associated with other xenograft implants. (9)
Each Unite® Biomatrix collagen dressing is decellularized through a validated manufacturing process to remove any endogenous cells. Effective decellularization ensures safety and biocompatibility of all our bioimplants.
As a regulated medical device, Unite® Biomatrix was subject to the required ISO (International Organization for Standardization) biocompatibility testing. Independent results confirmed that Unite® was found to meet these safety standard requirements.
